The Story of Raw Beauty Box (Our Rebrand Journey)

The Story of Raw Beauty Box (Our Rebrand Journey)

Every business evolves, but not every business manages to stay true to its purpose along the way. At Raw Beauty Box, our rebrand wasn’t about chasing trends or creating a slick new image.

It was about realigning how we look and communicate with the values that led me to start this business in the first place: producing palm-oil-free, chemical-free bath and body products, made in Australia, as my small way of giving back to the natural world.

This is the story of how Raw Beauty Box began, why a rebrand became necessary, and what it means for you, our community.

Why Raw Beauty Box Began

My love for orangutans was the driving force behind Raw Beauty Box. These incredible animals are losing their habitats at an alarming rate due to deforestation linked to palm oil plantations.

Palm oil is inexpensive, widely found in numerous everyday products, and is a significant contributor to the destruction of rainforest ecosystems.

When I realised how many mainstream bath and body products contained palm oil, I knew there had to be another option. Raw Beauty Box originated as my way of creating products that people could enjoy without contributing to environmental problems.

Our bath and body items are fun, indulgent, and made with care, using only palm-oil-free and chemical-free ingredients in small batches.

It was a small act, but one that gave me purpose: to prove you can have products that feel good, smell good, and do good, without destroying the very ecosystems we should be protecting.

The Early Days

We launched with whipped soaps, scrubs, and shave creams, each one designed to bring joy and fun back into daily routines. Customers loved the textures, scents, and transparency behind our formulas.

Orders began to grow, and what started as a passion project quickly developed into something bigger.

But success brought new challenges. Our original packaging was fine for a small hobby business, but it wasn’t designed to carry the weight of a growing brand built on strong values.

Why the Old Packaging Fell Short

Our 125g jars were effective in the early days, but they didn’t fully showcase the true value of what was inside. The labels were simple, sometimes inconsistent, and the overall look didn’t match the vibrancy of our products or the eco values we stood for.

Customers also provided us with honest feedback. They loved what was inside but wanted more from the outside: larger jars that lasted longer, labels that clearly highlighted our palm-oil-free and chemical-free promise, and packaging that looked and felt as sustainable as our ethos.

It was clear our packaging needed to evolve if we wanted to keep growing without losing sight of why we started.

The Move to 250g Jars

One of the biggest shifts in our rebrand was moving from 125g jars to 250g jars. This wasn’t just about making products bigger. It was about value, usability, and reducing waste.

Customers were going through the smaller jars quickly, so doubling the size provided them with longer-lasting value and reduced packaging waste per use.

The larger jars also provided us with more room for branding and communication, allowing us to proudly display icons for palm-oil-free, vegan, cruelty-free, and Australian-made products.

It was a simple but powerful step forward.

Choosing Eco-Friendly Packaging

Updating our packaging wasn’t just about design; it was about responsibility. Bath and body products shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet.

That meant sourcing jars that were recyclable, labels made with eco-friendly inks, and packaging that reflected our commitment to reducing waste.

It wasn’t the cheapest option, but it was the right one. Now, every jar we sell matches the standards we set for what’s inside.

Rethinking Labels and Packaging

Labels and packaging aren’t just decoration; they tell the story of the product and the brand. As part of the rebrand, we created labels that were modern, consistent, and clear.

Every product now features bold, easy-to-read information, along with eco-icons that quickly communicate what matters: palm-oil-free, chemical-free, small-batch, and proudly Australian-made.

The goal was to ensure that anyone could pick up a jar and immediately understand the values it represented.

Listening to Our Customers

Rebrands can sometimes miss the mark when brands forget their community. From the outset, we made a point to listen closely to what our customers wanted.

Bigger jars. Eco packaging. Consistent labelling. Clearer ingredient stories. This feedback guided every change we made. That’s why the rebrand wasn’t cosmetic; it was built hand-in-hand with the people who support us.

Staying proudly Australian-made and owned.

Raw Beauty Box has always been proudly Australian-owned and made. We source locally wherever possible, employ local staff, and maintain all production in Australia.

Supporting Australian jobs while delivering palm-oil-free, chemical-free bath and body products is part of who we are. The rebrand allowed us to tell this story more clearly and ensure that our customers know exactly what their purchase supports.

Challenges Along the Way

Rebranding isn’t easy. We faced supplier delays, higher costs for eco-friendly packaging, and the painstaking process of redesigning dozens of products and packaging. At times, it was frustrating, with one step forward and two steps back.

But every obstacle was worth it. We knew that staying true to our values was more important than taking shortcuts. The result is a stronger brand that reflects exactly who we are and why we exist.

What the Rebrand Means for You

For our customers, the rebrand delivers more than just a new look. It means:

  • Bigger jars for better value.

  • Eco packaging that’s kinder to the planet.

  • Clearer labels and packaging that showcase our promise of palm-oil-free and chemical-free products.

  • A stronger, more transparent Raw Beauty Box that grows with you.

Most importantly, it signals our long-term commitment. We’re not chasing short-term gains; we’re here to build a brand that lasts, one that you can feel good about supporting.

Looking Ahead

The rebrand isn’t an endpoint. It’s the start of a new chapter. With stronger foundations, we’re ready to expand our range, explore wholesale opportunities, and keep innovating around sustainability.

But our purpose remains unchanged: to create palm-oil-free, chemical-free bath and body products that make your everyday routines joyful and responsible.

Conclusion

The Raw Beauty Box rebrand was never about surface-level change.

It was about aligning our packaging, design, and brand identity with the values we started with: protecting orangutan habitats by eliminating palm oil, keeping harsh chemicals out of your routine, and proving that eco-conscious bath and body products can be both fun and indulgent.

Every decision from 250g jars to recyclable labels and packaging was made with care, responsibility, and our community in mind.

This is more than a rebrand. It’s a renewed promise: to keep creating body and bath products that are good for you, good for the planet, and proudly Australian-made.
