Beddown transforms large empty spaces – like car parks – into overnight pop-up accommodation for Australia’s homeless. Everyone deserves a good night’s sleep in a bed.
Why They Do it:
Many homeless people suffer from sleep deprivation due to the conditions of living on the streets. Sleep deprivation can lead to many physical and mental health conditions, such as:
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Obesity
- Memory Loss
- Impaired cognitive function
- Alcohol or drug use.
Those who sleep rough also have security concerns: there is always the possibility of being attacked and robbed.
How it Helps
By providing a safe, secure and comfortable place to get a good night’s rest, Beddown help restore:

- dignity
- respect
for their guests.
